Aldo Viola - Sicily, Italy
The first wine that ever turned us onto natural wine was Aldo Viola's Saignée Rosato at VinItaly 2017. Fast forward 2 years and we're finally bringing in a great representation of his wines!
Aldo is from a winemaking family in Sicily, taking the vineyard over in 2000. His wines are all organically farmed, fermented with native yeasts, unfiltered, unfined, with no additional sulphites. With 16 hectares across two sites in Alcomo, Aldo uses a rigid selection process to ensure the grapes fit his standards of production. Making less than 10,000 bottles each year, each has specific terroir to its place in Sicily and most have a very strong character to them.
Why we love them:
- First natural wine Holly fell in love with
- Incredible complexity across all his wines
- Excellent examples of Italian amber wines
