Vinessens - Alicante, Spain
We met Vinessens at Real Wine in London and immediately fell in love with the range of white and amber wines they were producing, majority coming from Monastrell. With a range from light whites to flor covered ambers, some have skin contact for over 2 years.
Their vines are mainly over 100 years old on a mix of soils, with the majority on sand. You can feel the ocean on a lot of their wines with salinity, a lot of minerality and some with the local herbs like rosemary and thyme. The land is around 23 hectares on a hillside with 550 to 700 meters of elevation.
Why We Love Them
1. They're not afraid to experiment and it pays off! Just try the Flor de Mata and you'll be flored ;)
2. While working within our parameters for natural wine, they are also still very cost effective and a great value.
3. The amber wines are truly not to be missed, we were only able to get 2 out of 6 they produce and will be bringing in more from the next vintage!
